Consumption Monitoring goes not only provide individual consumption and process values. It also shows how these values develop over time. This makes it easier to identify consumption peaks, individual process stages and correlations between system operation and resource consumption.Depending on the active cleaning program and the available system signals, the measured data can also be assigned to individual process stages such as washing, rinsing or drying.

Good to know about the Intensive option

The four-week measurement period provides sufficient time to record and compare the effects of changes to process parameters such as temperature, program settings or operating modes. This provides a reliable basis for optimizing the cleaning process sustainably and efficiently. Changes in consumption can be viewed directly on the Compass© panel and subsequently evaluated using the recorded measurement data.

The customer is responsible for documenting any changes and evaluating the cleaning result.

BvL Consumption Monitoring is a service for the structured collection and analysis of relevant consumption and process data from industrial cleaning systems. Over a defined period, actual consumption is measured during ongoing operation and subsequently processed by BvL.

This provides you with a reliable data basis for gaining a better understanding of consumption, identifying anomalies and evaluating potential improvements based on actual data.

Consumption Monitoring provides transparency about the actual energy and media consumption of your cleaning system. Among other things, it helps you to:

• identify consumption peaks and unusual operating conditions,
• identify potential savings and optimization opportunities,
• gain a better understanding of operating costs,
• prepare for modernization or retrofit measures,
• provide consumption data for audits, energy management and internal documentation,
• create a basis for future comparative measurements.

Depending on the technical conditions of the cleaning system, the following consumption data in particular can be recorded:

• Electricity consumption
• Water consumption
• Compressed air consumption

Relevant temperature data is also recorded to provide a better understanding of the relationships between system operation, process parameters and consumption trends.

Compass is the mobile measurement system developed by BvL and the technical core of Consumption Monitoring. The connected sensors record consumption and process data directly at the cleaning system.

Compass is not rented out or sold as a stand-alone measuring device. In addition to the measurement technology, the service includes installation, data collection, preparation of the results and BvL optimization recommendations derived from the recorded data.

BvL Consumption Monitoring is available in two variants:

Compact consumption data measurement:

Measurements are taken over a period of two weeks, primarily to provide a structured assessment of the current situation.

Extended consumption data measurement:

Measurements are taken over a period of four weeks. During this period, you can adjust process parameters independently and observe how these changes affect consumption data.

The Compact variant is particularly suitable if you initially want to gain transparency about the current condition of your cleaning system, document consumption data or create a basis for audits, modernization measures and future comparative measurements.

The Extended variant is suitable if you want to analyze consumption trends over a longer period or compare different settings and operating modes.

Yes. During the measurement period, the currently recorded values can be viewed directly on the Compass panel. This gives you an overview of the technically measurable consumption data and temperature trends while the measurement is still in progress.

Where technically possible, measurement data can be assigned to the respective process stages based on time. This makes it possible, for example, to identify whether consumption occurred during washing, rinsing or drying.

The level of detail available depends on the system design, program sequence and available system signals.

Once the measurement has been completed and the data has been processed, you will generally receive:

• a measurement report with a factual summary of the consumption and process data,
• separate BvL optimization recommendations,
• the measurement data for the measurement period as raw data.

The measurement report documents the measured current situation. Separately, the BvL optimization recommendations highlight potential improvements that can be derived from the recorded data.

The optimization recommendations are derived individually from the measurement data. They may relate to areas such as:

• noticeable consumption peaks,
• unusual electricity, water or compressed air consumption,
• potential process adjustments,
• reduction of standby consumption,
• modernization and retrofit options,
• technical measures to reduce consumption.

The results can serve as a basis for further discussions about suitable measures.

No. Consumption Monitoring provides transparency about consumption values and potential optimization opportunities, but does not guarantee any specific reduction in consumption or costs.

The improvements that can actually be achieved depend, among other factors, on the condition of the cleaning system, the production process, system utilization and the measures subsequently implemented.

No. Compass records consumption and process data but does not automatically assess the cleanliness of the cleaned parts.

If you change process parameters during the Extended measurement, such as temperatures or treatment times, you are responsible for checking whether the cleaning result continues to meet your requirements. Any parameter changes made by the customer should also be documented, including the time and extent of the changes.

BvL currently does not assign an energy efficiency rating such as A, B or C. An energy certificate in the sense of a qualitative assessment is also not currently included in the service.

Instead, you receive reliable documentation of the measured consumption data, BvL optimization recommendations and the raw data as a basis for your own analyses and future comparative measurements.

The service is primarily designed for BvL cleaning systems. Subject to a technical assessment, Consumption Monitoring can generally also be used on cleaning systems from other manufacturers.

For systems from other manufacturers, the available media connections, measurement points, interfaces, electrical documentation and accessibility, among other factors, must be assessed individually.

Installation and commissioning are carried out by a qualified BvL service engineer. The service engineer connects the required sensors, commissions Compass and checks that the intended data is being recorded correctly.

Self-installation by the customer is not intended.

The cleaning system, lines and intended measurement points must be safely and freely accessible for installation. Sufficient space must also be available for Compass. A customer contact should be available during installation.

The media and measurement points that can actually be recorded are assessed in advance based on the technical conditions on site.

The standard service covers one cleaning system. Simultaneous or consecutive measurements of several systems can be assessed and quoted individually.

Following your inquiry, BvL first determines which cleaning system is to be analyzed and which parameters can technically be measured. You will then receive a quotation tailored to your specific application.

Once the order has been placed, the installation date and start of the measurement period are agreed. Compass is installed by a BvL service engineer and used for a period of two or four weeks. At the end of the measurement period, BvL processes the data and provides you with the measurement report, BvL optimization recommendations and measurement data.

The costs depend on the selected variant, the technical application and the required scope of measurement. The quotation generally includes the provision of Compass, installation and commissioning, data collection, data processing and the agreed result documentation.

Travel expenses and any additional special costs are quoted separately.
